About us

Welcome to Topstones! We are Girlguiding Leicestershire's County Campsite and Activity Centre. We are set in 14 acres with sweeping views of the surrounding countryside and hold a bursting range of indoor and outdoor facilities. Suitable for Girlguiding, Scouting and DofE groups. Unfortunately, we cannot allow members of the general public to use the campsite.

Camping

There are six camping zones, these are: Swallow, Maple, Birch, Swift, Ash and Beech. All zones have Alter fires available.

Chalet

The Chalet is a fully equipped timber chalet for self-catering holidays, weekends, sleepovers or activity days.

Pods

These Pods are packed with stress free fun. No tents, no storm lashing, no groundsheets. We have four Pods that are insulated, carpeted and powered which allows year round use.

Activities

There is a wide variety of activities available which ranges from ball games, trails and campfires to mountain bikes, bouldering walls, assault course, archery and so much more...

A New Look

Topstones Redecorated. A group of volunteers from the commercial section of Topps Tiles, lead by Kevin Bingham, worked from 8.30am to 4.30pm on a Wednesday in November to completely emulsion and gloss the rooms in the Chalet. They were recruited through Leicestershirecares which is an organisation that matches projects with volunteers. They not only did the work but also kindly provided all the paint etc. We are delighted with the result and would like to thank the team for their sterling work which has made such a difference to the Chalet. Whilst they were doing this the curtains were taken down and cleaned so that the Chalet now GLOWS!!!

The Activity Barn

This building is magnificent. It is multipurpose in many ways. On one side are toilets which include a disabled toilet plus shower. The outside holds a sink and running water for Duke of Edinburgh’s groups. On the other side this building is home to many fantastic things and is even home to our very own Bouldering Wall. To utilise the space even better, a mezzanine is host to even more activities and equipment that is constantly being added to and maintained by volunteers.

The perfect place to celebrate

Daytime isn't the only time to take advantage of the playground. We celebrated with candles, laid out in a slightly squished trefoil. How would you celebrate 100 years? Could you do better than candles? Here's to the next 100 years!

The Pods

These Pods are packed with stress free fun. No tents, no storm lashing, no groundsheets. We have four Pods that are insulated, carpeted and powered which allows year round use. Attached to the Pods is a functioning camp kitchen with electricity. You don’t even need to bring your mess tent as there is the Swift wet weather shelter attached to the camp kitchen. It’s perfect for when the weather turns patchy. There are also chairs and tables available. The camp kitchen has stainless steel working areas, a triple gas burner, a fridge, microwave and a range of kitchen equipment. There is an altar fire close by and the water tap is a short walk. These Pods are suitable for up to 5 children or 4 adults per Pod.
